I’ve no idea who originally quoted that little sentence; I just remember stumbling upon it at some point in this journey we call life.

It stuck.

Not so much because I’ve been outsourcing my own work, admin jobs or even mundane tasks like fighting the endless battle that is cleaning the house, but more because I would love to be the person that enables others to live their own dream. What if I could free up an entrepreneur to start a new business? What if I could free up a speaker to invest into the lives of listeners the world over. What if I could free up a person to be the very best that they can be?

Although writing is, and always will be, a passion of mine, it is the website building arm of my business that has grown more successful of late. As such my wonderful husband Dave and I have decided to launch this tangent business as its own entity, Breakthrough Web.

Soon there will be a link to a new website boasting information about this new business, but for now I thought I would offer a brief explanation as to what it is this new operation is about.

Your website can be a breakthrough. Perhaps a breakthrough in business, after all, we all seek to search the vast World Wide Web for our services these days, or even a breakthrough in your personal life. Have you ever dreamed of granting the world access to your photographs, your recipes, your tips on whatever subject you might be an expert in? A website could offer you that chance.

But unfortunately life has a tendency to get busy.

This busyness can snatch your breakthrough away in a heartbeat.

Websites with ‘Latest News’ pages advertising updates from 2008, dated pictures that haven’t been updated since the dawn of the Internet and links that lead to nowhere, are all signs that life has simply kept the owner too busy to keep things current. And who can blame said owner? There will always be households to manage, income to generate and many other attention-stealing and ever so essential activities to keep us from our websites.

That’s why Breakthrough Web is more than just a website building company. Breakthrough Web will also offer website hosting so that you never have the hassle of dealing with multiple companies again. But more than that, Breakthrough Web will offer a unique and powerful Update Service that allows you to do what you do best, while we take care of the rest. Well… The rest when it comes to your website at any rate! I’m afraid the ironing and vacuuming are still solely your own responsibility.

Imagine it. All you need to do to let the world know your latest thoughts is email them to our dedicated support address. Before you know it those thoughts are beautifully formatted and published ready for the world to see. Minimal effort for you!

We’ll even send you automated reminders when your website has been content-free for a while, so that your visitors will never need to survive without your valuable insights again.

Breakthrough Web is coming soon. But if you don’t want to wait you can Contact Me right now for more information, or for a quote for your own website design, hosting and Update Service.

Slowly but surely I am teaching myself to cook. The days of microwave meals are behind me (except occasionally after incredibly long days in the office!); however most of my experimentation to date has been in accordance with the somewhat safe method of following recipes.

Until yesterday that is.

The hour was 1730 and the stomach was rumbling; the cupboards were bare but the hunger was insatiable and wouldn’t wait for me to race around the aisles of the supermarket.

I ransacked my shelves, pulling out rice, tuna, an onion and the ingredients to make what I knew to be a delicious cheese sauce recipe. Throwing in a few herbs produced what turned out to be an enticing and delectable meal. For several hours I felt quite proud of myself, I’d created something new, something tempting, something, quite frankly, delicious.

It didn’t take long for my mind to start wandering down this new path and the thought occurred to me that the recipe I had created was doubtfully new at all. I am sure that at some point in the history of rice in a packet and tuna in a tin, someone has thought to combine the two with an onion and a sauce. All I had succeeded in was sating my tremendous hunger, in style.

Of course I couldn’t leave it at that; now my mind was occupied in the pursuit of attempting to ascertain what in this world is actually new. Is there anything left to invent? Are there any places left to explore? If I create something incredible is it my own? Or simply a recycled version of something that already exists?

My conclusion was interesting; whether anything entirely new can ever be created or not, what is important is the desire to create. Once the entrepreneurs of this world are silenced, civilisation will cease to advance. I may even be forced to retreat back into the relatively safe world of well-known microwave meals.

The desire to create is ingrained in all people, and though it may seem hard, even impossible, to use that creativeness for something new, I would never wish to live in a world where people wouldn’t try.

Don’t stop dreaming.

Today is a Tuesday. There’s nothing particularly out of the ordinary about this Tuesday, and yet for some reason it seems that today is the day to make a change.

Actually the truth of the matter is I have lost count of the amount of times that I have insisted that ‘today is the day to make a change’. It’s always the day to start the diet, or the day to clean the flat. It could be the day to start a new business venture, or the day to learn how to play my guitar that has been gathering dust in the corner for the last nine years.

Unfortunately, as with many spur of the moment resolutions, it is easier to say today will be the day than it is to actually make a change.

You see, as I see it each time my mind decides that there will be something different about this day I have two choices. I can either laugh at myself for believing again that a random Tuesday noted for nothing particularly memorable could be the day that changes my life, berating myself for even daring to dream that something new could be born from my ramblings.

Or I can believe that every day provides the opportunity to change your life, and I can start to seize said opportunities with both hands.

As I was musing upon these thoughts this Tuesday morning I came to a startling realisation…

Every day, every monotonous Tuesday, every anticipated Friday, every lazy Sunday, every day promises a wealth of opportunity that no other day can boast. Every day truly does provide you with the chance to change, to grow, to step into something new.

Your day today could be the day to pass some change to that homeless person on the street whom you so frequently pass, changing his or her world for the better for just a moment in time.

Your day today could be the day to set something in motion that could revolutionise your earnings, such as taking the first steps toward achieving that dream of working from home.

Your day today could be the day to simply put your feet up, allowing the cares and the pressures of the world to wash over you so that you can face your future with boldness, courage and a clearness of mind that can only be gained through the provision of relaxation time.

I don’t know what this Tuesday is to you, but I plan to use it effectively. I plan to use today to make a change.
